Types of Clinic Appointments

Our clinic schedule has been structured in a way which endorses the continuity of patient care and minimizes the use of outside walk-in-clinics by our patients.

Meet-and-Greet Appointment

In order to register with a family doctor at our clinic, an initial meet and greet appointment will be scheduled with the physician of your choice who is currently accepting new patients. The purpose of this meeting is to get acquainted with your physician and only intended to discuss and review your medical history. Kindly note, no concerns will be addressed in this meeting. Should you need to see a physician regarding a more urgent concern, you are more than welcome to book a walk-in appointment prior to setting up your meet-and-greet. Please note however, due to OHIP restrictions these appointments cannot be both booked on the same day.

Regular Appointment (Family Medicine Patients)

Regular appointments are scheduled during you physician’s regular clinic hours. These appointments can typically be scheduled up to 90 days in advance.

Last Minute Appointment

For every day your physician is working at the clinic, she/he will have a number of same-day appointment slots available to book ONLY on that day. Furthermore, should your physician happen to be away from the clinic (e.g. conferences, seminars, vacation), we will ensure that one or some of our other physicians dedicate a similar number of appointments to the patients of the absent physician. Therefore these appointments are also usually with your own physician, but not necessarily so.

Please note these appointments are for URGENT matters only. Please do not use this option to schedule an appointment if your concern is in regards to a long-term or ongoing issue.

walk-in appointments

At WellOne Medical Centre we implement walk-ins in two ways:

  • You can walk in anytime between 8am to 8pm with your urgent medical concern to see one of our physicians. However we strongly recommend you call in before to make sure we have not stopped registration for walk-in for that day. Refer to note below **

  • Alternatively, you can book a walk-in appointment with one of our receptionists in order to better cater to your convenience.

Please note these appointments are meant for short-term urgent issues (i.e. urinary tract infections, minor injuries, fever etc.) The walk-in physician will address one issue during each visit. If you have additional issues, please book an appointment with your family physician or return to the clinic for another walk-in appointment.

We strongly encourage our patients who have enrolled with a physician at our clinic to make their appointments with their own family doctor; this will ensure the continuity of patient care and is for the best interest of the patient.

** PLEASE NOTE:  Should the walk-in clinic experience a high volume of patients we may have to stop registration at our discretion. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. **

Periodic Health Exam (a.k.a. Preventative Health Exam / Physical)

Periodic health exams focus on preventative health. They are recommended every 1 - 3 years depending on your age. Recent studies of the effects of annual check-ups have shown that healthy people often don’t necessarily need annual physicals, and those check-ups can do more harm than good. Please see your doctor regularly for any new or ongoing concerns.

OHIP provides coverage for periodic health exams once every 12+ months for every patient. These appointments must always be made with your family physician and can be schedules up to one year in advance.
